Just traded in my '06 on a '17 (they're cheap right now due to rental companies turning them over).
First full tankfull got 20.5+ mpg, rural and semi-suburban driving.
Admittedly, I drove gently, it being new to me, but did get some interstate miles on it. My '06 would get 15 on a good day.
Now to see how it does on I 95 pulling a 3000 lb enclosed trailer. The best the old one did was about 11.
Am following the threads on adding a 7-pin trailer connector as I could use that occasionally.

Make sure you do real calculations too, the computers can be way off on their estimates.
My 2011 gentle driving rural, rolling hills, 45-60, I can milk 23mpg. Roaring up and down I-95 at 75-85 empty, I get 15. Pulling loaded trailer highway 13, through the mountains 10.

My 2007 5.4 averaged 15.5 MPG with a pretty even mix. I could milk 20.5 MPG on a long highway run at 65 even.

It’s all in the gearing, the 6R80 keeps the 5.4 right in its sweet spot. My new EL Eddie Bauer with the same 3.73s averages 2 mpg lower, think I’ll do an overall tune up.

Calculation based on miles traveled / gallons pumped to fill. One tank is a little iffy; will know more after 5 - 6 tankfuls.
It actually came out to 20.77, but a quart either way would screw that up.
My '06 had 3.73 gearing (HD tow pkg); this one is 3.31.
