Hey guys... as you can see by my post count I'm new to the forum and a new Expedition owner, but I'm not new to Fords (I have an '03 F150 Supercab Lariat FX4 in the garage as well). My wife and I purchased a brand new 2013 Expedition EL at the beginning of this month... loved on it for 2 weeks, and then had to put it in the shop Monday. This is very frustrating to say the least, and I'm really hoping it's not a sign of things to come.

We bought the EL to have more room and to tow our travel trailer and decided this past Saturday to hook the camper up and take it for a test run up and down the interstate. Sunday morning, when we left for church, I noticed the information center display was showing "Rear Park Aid <ON> OFF" and neither the Setup nor the Info button would cycle off of that setting. I tried Reset and it showed "Hold Reset to Clear"... which I did... and the display went dark. Turning the ignition off and back on would bring the Rear Park Aid back on the screen, but it was still unresponsive.

Monday morning we took it into the shop... two weeks after purchase it's in the shop and has been there all week :flame:. They said they had to order an entire new instrument cluster and that it would take them at least three days to receive it. I have several concerns with this repair...

First, I'm hoping that there won't be a mileage mismatch with the new cluster. It only had 800 miles and some change on it, but it's a brand new vehicle and I don't want that issue for the entire time we own it.

Second, I'm concerned that digging into the dash this early may yield rattles from broken retaining clips, damage along the edges of the panels, etc.

And third, I'm worried about the quality control of this particular part if there's already an issue with it, and the likelihood of a recurring malfunction.

I really hate to have a complaint session as my first post on the forum, but I'm just wondering how you guys would handle this if it were your vehicle.

Thanks,
Nathan

Thanks,

First, the dealer will make the mileage correct, they have to, its the law. thats part of the reason it takes longer to get it, the repacement needs to be programmed to reflect the current mileage.

Second, removing the cluster is not a big deal, its actually screwed in so there shouldnt be anything to rattle. The bezel is held on with clips and I believe a couple of screws.

Third,
I havent seen any complaints regarding failed information centers online so i think its safe to relax, you just got a bad part. Unfortunately, it happens.
