Hey guys (and gals)...

I will be doing a few mods in the next few weeks. I have picked 3 to do as of now. I will be buying a tuner, a CAI, and a push bar.

For the tuner, I am looking into the SCT Economizer. Better MPGs are my only goal at the moment. If I gain some HP or TQ in addition to getting better mileage, great! If not, no sweat as long as the MPGs go up. What do you think about this tuner for MPG increase? Is there a better option? Anyone have any experience with it?

For the CAI, I want the K&N FIPK setup. I have heard great things about it. I like the power gains, and the sound is pretty beastly. However, MPG is still my main concern. Speak up and throw me some input. Is there a better option?

As far as push bars go... I have no real choices yet. Is there anything wrong with an Ebay special? Should I pony up the big dough for a Westin or a Go Rhino? My GF and daughter's ssafety will be my main concern. I know driving is not a game, and God-forbid they ever get in an accident, I NEED them to win if they do. I know those of you with families share my sentiment. So, speak up. Best choices and why. I will most likely add lights to it.

Thanks for all your help in advance.

I like my K&N. I have a 2v vs your 3v so not sure if you get the same results as i did. I did my K&N and my exhaust at the same time. I did get a little better mileage when i could keep my foot out of it. Not sure about the tuner, i dont have any experience with that. Just make sure it will work with CAI like the x3 does. I know some tuners come with a gas saver mode as well as the "power" settings. For the bumper you can try waag.

I will tell you that a Expedition will NOT get good fuel mileage. On my 2005 ,which is a 4x4 and I have only added a K&N filter, I get 13-14 city and 18-19 on the highway running around 78mph. Now that is better than the 2002 EB 4x4 that I had and only got 13 period. These tanks are built to carry people and everything else you can throw on it and in it and still pull what you put behind it.
For safety,I feel that these are some of the safest vehicles on the road. There are still times when people do get killed or badly injuried , and there is nothing that can be done in some of these cases. You just need to watch out for the other drivers, they are the ones that will kill you

That is exactly the info I was looking for Freeway! Sorry, got busy with the nursery and wasn't able to call you this weekend. Maybe we can get a beer Friday evening

I went with a Westin bull bar.. Just as with any other product, you get what you pay for, and an eBay special will likely prove to be.. Well... An eBay special. Do it once and do it right, IMHO.

I will also echo that you will never get great mileage with the Expy. Even with the SuperChips, my truck is lucky to see 13MPG on my 30 mile each way daily commute.

I have a 2004 EB 4x4 and am also looking for a tuner. I installed a K&N Intake as well as a throttle body spacer. I've noticed the increased performance but haven't seen as much on the MPG side. If I purchased an SCT tuner, will I be able to specify the mods in the custom tune? I'm considering headers and a header back dual exhaust system as well. As I add the mods will I be able to adjust the tune?

I have never been convinced on the CAI.
Every one I have seen basically hangs the filter out in mid air inside the engine compartment. How the hell is that a cold air intake??? It is just sucking the hot air from the engine compartment!!! Yeah, you can go online and see K&N and others pull higher dyno numbers. But guess what, they ALWAYS have the hood open.
Save your cash and do a GOTTS mod.

But that is just my redneck opinion and I am sure many people will disagree with me...

Essentially you are replacing the snorkel that leads into the fender wall with a wider piece (3" PVC). The stock snorkel is about 1.5" wide. It makes a small difference allowing the motor to breathe easier.
