interior/door ajar lights always on???

I have a 2000 xlt and just this morning, i had the interior lights on and door ajar warning light on while driving. I stopped checked all doors and they were all shut/nothing blocking??? dimmer is not turned on either. How dooes the car register on open door?? Where is the switch on the doors -- don't really know where to start??? When I turn the car off - the interior lights stay on??? Help...

i would say get a can of contact cleaner and clean all the door latches, and then lube the latches up and see if that dont fix your problem and if not you either got a short or a bad switch

Oh yes, interior lights. I curse them up and down. Some history- I've owned my 97 for 7 years now and I've got 207,500 on the clock. Mechanically she is strong as a bull! Electrical- I could rip my hair out. My husband had to take out the interior bulbs and he has greased all door locks and jams SEVERAL times to no avail. Basically that is her quirk, I live with it because in every other category she is superb! Good luck, maybe you will win the electrical war.

any update and did you find the problem and it sounds like you have got a switch that has went bad after rereading your first post it sounds like something that has just went out correct

I did what lakmflx said to do when it happened to my 03. It works. If it doesn't you probably have a bad sensor. For some reason it seems to occur alot on these trucks. Never had the problem on my F-150. Just spray the piss out of all of the doors and the rear hatch.

Door Ajar Light On

My '03 Expo just started doing this about a week ago but not all the time. Sometimes it stays on and then sometimes it cuts off. If cleaning/lubricating the latches/locks does not work, how do you tell which door sensor is bad?

This is SOP with Ford. My Explorer does this periodically, usually the driver's door. Hose down the door latch with a silicone lubricant cures it for several months.
