New guy here. I purchased a 2005 EB with 115k on the odometer. Good looking truck and good condition interior. The carfax was provided and it looks like it went to the dealer on a regular basis indicating maintenance done. Got the truck and the cruise is not working and the TPMS is showing an error. QUESTIONS: Could an error with the TPMS prevent the cruise from turning on? No cruise light on dash when pressing the on switch with the truck running and moving. Does the cruise light flash on start up?

I have read a couple of procedures to get the TPMS working with putting it into learn mode and then use a magnet (didn't work) or releasing air from tires (haven't tried). Just wondering if there is any dependence or are they fully separate from one another?

TPMS sensors need to be replaced, they are run on batteries and have a finite lifespan. I had all mine replaced this year. Probably not related, lots of times a bad wheel speed sensor causes cruise to not work, at least on the exploder it’s a common issue.

I replaced the switches on the steering wheel thinking that could be the problem, but that didn't solve the issue with the cruise. I checked the brake switch and that is OK. The circuitry doesn't look all that complex and thought they may be related. I guess i will work on getting the TPMS system fixed and then go after the cruise. Thank you.

The TPMS is not involved in any pinpoint tests for Cruise Control in my '12 service manual.

I can think of reasons to disable cruise if TPMS detects a fault, but apparently that doesn't happen.

Ditto for me too on this.

As Bedrck said though, there is a self test procedure you can do to get you pointed in the right direction.

I will explain it to the OP when he replies

Not trying to be a smart ass as I have posted the procedure many times in the past
My original post was directed to the OP so that I may offer him some information via E-Mail

I had Cruise Control issues on my 2005 FX4. On mine it would try to work but kick out right away.
I turned out that the brake light switch needed to be removed and contact points cleaned. Has worked ever since with no problems.

Just to throw in, I drive a Ford transit van part time these days, had one about 2 weeks back that had the tire pressure switch lit up on dash, and cruise behaved fine. As we've stated till blue in the face, guys test suspect switches/relays or whatever is suspect. We're trying to make techs, not parts changers out of you guys. All the under 40 crowd here is so computer savvy, every test , procedure is right in front of you, just Google it. Back when I was wrenching in the day we had to buy or borrow the repair manual for that vehicle. All the test procedures are right at your second finger. Moose's rant for the day!

Sorry, haven't been on for a couple of days. Weekends are busy. I would be interested in where to find the diagnosis procedures. Sorry for the late response, I don't ****. :)

Their you go. In the future, try to take a moment to respond back to us. We get over 50 percent of members that post, then pull a Houdini. Very frustrating when were reaching out to Help!
