You could probably also swap to earlier-style LCAs for the oldskool shock mount if you so desired.... theyre surprisingly affordable, like 70 bucks each
Likely so but from the way it looks would be completely unnecessary.
My forward motion has been stalled a little bit as I do not want to move forward without actually having the spring perches in hand so I can take measurements and be sure my theories are correct. They are special order, special order so it has taken a while to get them.
But Napa called today and they arrived just won't be able to get them till tomorrow.
If they are correct, which it sounds like they are when my Napa guy was describing them over the phone, he said they are a very solid piece which is promising.
I have also located a full front strut assembly for cheap so if I pick up the perches tomorrow and they are correct I will get the strut assembly so I can have all the stock measurements and not have to take apart my truck.
I also got in contact with Bilstein and have all the needed measurements from them ( as well but accroding to them that is still just for the 2013 and below even if the older spring perches are used. But only from a "that has not been tested" standpoint. So once the stock assembly is picked up I will have dimension from Napa, KYB, and Motorcraft for the 2014-2017 trucks to compare.
I will then get in contact with King Shocks again and try to figure out what dimensions would be best comparing the different specs of the other models and if we can be in the ballpark of $350 a shock from them I will likely not even bother with the Bilsteins.
If my hopes in price are off but the Bilsteins Dimensions fall pretty close to what King suggests I will likely buy a Bilstein front and swap it into the junkyard piece and see how close we are before buying a 2nd and actually putting them in to test.
So worst case scenario I am out a little over $100 for the spring perches and extra strut assembly even if the Kings don't work out. Then out another $75 if I try the Bilstein.
Once I get this hammered out a little better I will make a thread over in the 3rd gen section that is more concise and cleaned up a bit. This has been a bit of a brainstorming thread for myself to see if anyone else has any thoughts.
Unfortunately Stage 3 Motorsports has not responded to any of my email or Facebook inquires. I was hoping they would chime in a bit with their expertise.
