guess its technically not a straight pipe, as i still have my cat to somewhat save my gas mileage....but thanks to Babes Mufflers i got the Flowmaster cut out and now i have that amazing gurgling roar like an old muscle car. definitely recommend it for the people out there that want a cheap way to make your car breath and roar.....by the way i gained a ton more acceleration due to better breathing (;

Not anything major. I have had a knock from the drivers side of the engine when it is cold for about 60k but nothing has ever come off of that. The transmission would not shift into drive last summer, but the shop dropped the pan, saw nothing wrong with it, put it back together, and it shifted fine after that.

Other than those minor issues, powertrain is completely original, and has not been cared for particularly well until the last couple of years (it was my folks truck for many years and my old man is not as caring about his vehicles, like 15k between oil changes kind of caring haha). I would definitely buy another one of these 97-98's with this transmission, even though they are under-powered compared to vehicles today.
