Last night I purchased a 2000 Expedition Eddie Bauer with 130,000 on the engine. This is to replace the 1997 EB that was totaled by a drunk driver. There are a couple of parts on the body that are a bit rough but the interior is flawless and the engine runs strong.

There are a couple of things that need to be fixed that I knew when I bought the truck.

1) The spare tire winch/lifter/holder cable is frayed and there is no spare tire. I need to replace that system. I have seen them locally at pull yards for around $50. Does this seem reasonable or am I better of getting a new one because a used one will fail soon anyway?

2) The lock/unlock mechanism on the rear glass does not work. My guess is it is the cable that has broken or become dislodged. I have seen a repair video on using zip ties but would be open to other recommendations. Is there a place to buy the appropriate cable where it does not cost an arm and a leg?

3) I am seeing signs that the rear wiper motor may be failing...we've all seen it. I am thinking when I have the rear lift gate panel off to replace the cable I might as well replace the wiper motor too.

What are some popular online parts sites that people use. I am looking for a reliable parts supply shop that is affordable.

Thanks, Eric

Spent a fair amount of time working on the Expedition this weekend. Found a guy who was parting out an old Expy and was able to get the spare tire carrier/winch, a spare wheel and tire and a the rear wiper motor for $40. Already have the spare tire carrier and spare under the truck. I also replace a fuse and the OD indicator is now working. Put new brakes on the front and repaired the rear glass lock/latch.

Truck is running well and I am looking forward to a few more little projects to get her into top shape. Heading camping this weekend so the first real towing test will occur on Thursday.
