How much better is the mileage with a K&N cold air intake??

Anyone ever use an edge programmer to see the true difference with and without the cold air intake?

Very interested in buying both units. Just need to justify it with some REAL WORLD data like yours.

Thanks, Jimmy.

I've got both K&N and a Edge CS. The Edge made a big difference. The K&N probaly not so much in the MPG ..more in the power end. I had my K&N 1st so not sure with and with out it..when it comes to the Edge. I did like both mods but the Edge is worth it.

Are you willing to swap the stock air box and the cold air to see the difference?
For some real numbers?

Any how, when you swapped the K&N, did you feel a difference?

Try the gotts mod. Everybody has done it & its about $15 vs a $300 intake. First i wanted the k&n but know im gunna go with the gotts mod. Google it to see what it is, or search for it on here.

Great modification. The stock fender insert is smaller than the throttle body - reducing air flow!!!

Do not remove the elbow tubing though!!!!!

The inner diameter of the throttle body is about 2 3/4" and so it the 45 degree turn into the throttle body, so don't remove that part. Removal of the elbow's inside tube will reduce Horse Power by crating turbulence - therefore reducing flow.

I measured the tubing.

I am happy with the modification in the fender. I added a drop-in K&N filter too. Plus, I cleaned the bore of the throttle body, behind the throttle blade.
This made it idle better.

"Gots mod" made easy and cleaner

VERY COOL! - I noticed an increase too.

I read the whole "gotts mod thread" at the "f-150 site" and the guy, "gots2beme" / "gots", also removed the inside of the elbow... (not a good idea if you want to increase power)

They called the fender modification a 1/2 mod and the removal of the elbow tube was the other 1/2 of the total modification.

Fender mod... GREAT!
Elbow mod... HORRIBLE!

A Couple of TIPS: the fender mod is easy if you use a hammer and a solid bar or something to beat downward on the bottom of the fender whole to make it more round.
It is not a round opening like the tube you want to stick in there. Other guys are filing down or sanding the PVC tube ...that takes a lot more time.

You can hammer the whole open in about 2 minutes and its clean. Plus you will never see that area again once you stuff the pipe in there.

Also, attach your pipe and coupler and filter housing together before you put in the fender. This allows you to tighten the hose clamps on the bottom so you don't see the hex head or the tail of the hose clamp hanging out all sloppy.;)

P.S. WD-40 helps the parts slide together...

Makes it look factory. Black connected to black and 2 shiny bands...

GOOD LUCK!
