The expedition has started chiming everytime the door is open like the key is in the ignition. It's a keyless system so I'm not sure how or what to check? Any info is appreciated!

It chimes when it is in or out of the vehicle. I've tried both sets of keys.

Another thought, mine chimes when the transfer case is in neutral but you’d know if that were the case

I had the expedition for months and it just started doing the chime type of noise. I don't see any message anywhere. It's driving me nuts. I've tried lights on and off of the automatic. 4wd in different settings.

Is it still under warranty?

Do you have a code reader to see if its throwing any codes?

I'm assuming it stops when you start the engine. Is that a correct assumption?

yes, it stops once the door is shut. It's out of warranty by a few thousand miles. I've tried a code reader I have, no codes come up.

I'm out of suggestions. Its probably going to have to have the dealer look at it. Probably a module went bad or maybe the push button switch, but I really don't know. Let us know what you find.

Hey guys, I am new to the forum. Just picked up a 2016 expedition limited. I have this exact issue as well. With no key around, open the door and it chimes the whole time the door is open, like there is a key in the car or like lights are on. But they are not. I think this goes along with my second issue, the remote start doesnt work. "lock, start, start" within 3 seconds gets me a quick horn beep. Manual says that is a "failed start". All the reasons that it can fail to start per the manual are not happening. Ill try to keep this updated as i go, and if anyone figures out the chime. Please post it.

I was playing around in mine last week and I noticed that If I pressed the start button without my foot on the brake to put it in accessory mode, if I opened the door then I received the key in the ignition chime. Is there a chance that there is something going on with the ignition switch?

Joe will it remote start if you are standing right next to it?

The remote start won't work since this chime has started when the door is open.

No dice standing right next to the vehicle. Still get the quick horn beep.

Yep, at this point I guess it will go back to the dealer. The car definitely thinks something is on.

This may be a stupid question, but have you checked the batteries in the Key?

Have you made sure that the remote start is enabled on the left hand information menu?

Joe J, Did you ever find out what was causing the problem? My 2015 has the same issue although it is intermittent.

Thanks!
