Daughter's 2012 Expedition. Just started a couple of weeks ago. Not always, but randomly the alarm will go off (vehicle in few view so no one is messing with it). Door locks will cycle, sometimes repeatedly, even when driving.

I had this happen on a old E150 and I had to replace the Keyless Radio/Controller (or whatever the proper term is). I can not find it on fordparts.com.

Anyone know the proper name or part number ?

Or is this functionality now included in the Smart Junction Box (BL1Z-15604-B) ?

Just a thought but I’ve heard of this happening to other vehicle makes and it was caused by some loose wires touching one another causing locks, windows, radios, and lights to go haywire

This sounds similar to the older expeditions and f150 when the windshield would leak and the gem module would get wet. Id find the SJB and see if its getting wet. Just a thought as this is the first I've heard of this issue

My fathers last truck, a 2011 F-250 acted this way the day he took delivery of it brand new. Had a defective computer.

If that was my new truck I would have cancelled the contract and made a deal on another one. I'd have serious reservations about that one.

They gave him a loaner and took it in and replaced the motherboard. Truck never had one single problem after that. He traded it in on a 16’ last summer. He didn’t want to wait for the 2017 as they are pretty ugly. His 16’ is in my photo album, my expy photos were over at my parents. He’s funny, I was complaining about my wheel well starting to bubble and his reply was “that ain’t nothing, I drove trucks you could see through the floor, you’ve never seen rust”. Which is true when I was a kid I remember he had an old chevy van I could pull 1’ strips of rust right off the body lol.

That's good that he didn't have any problems with it after that. When I was 18 and had my first cars, I learned how to cut, bend, and pop rivit sheet metal to patch holes in the floors of the cars I drove. I used to spray them with undercoating on the inside and outside. If they were really bad, I coat them fiberglass bondo to give them strength.

I am thinking it is related to moisture. I hope it is NOT a windshield leak/wet SJB.

That was one of the options the body shop gave me on the wheel well. I opted for it to be cutout and replaced instead, sounded like a better repair to me. Anyway is her key fob the style where it is the key and fob in one wizard?

Have you tried isolating the truck from the key she usually uses and driving away with a spare to see if it behaves differently? You can buy the fobs online but it’s a trip to the dealer to get the chip programmed to the truck.
