Keyless entry pad

I ordered a new Keyless entry pad from Tasca parts. At some point my original keypad went missing or fell off the truck, so my card and code are well.......useless. It was the Ford add on one that is stuck on via adhesive tape. Some were hardwired, and some battery operated stick on ones for whatever reason. Maybe dealer add on ones aren’t hard wired? What is programming the new one going to entail? Comes with a new code card as well. $65 for this little piece of plastic.......but I like the functionality of it and the fact I can leave the keys inside unscathed. Curious, has anyone else lost their keypad? LOL. Why are some stuck on and some hardwired?

I always thought the Ford aftermarket ones are stuck on and link with the fobs; factory ordered are hardwired. Perhaps yours was added by a dealer or owner who didn't clean the wax off the door before sticking it. Guess you could even stick it on the hood or your forehead if you want.

I didn’t think it could entail much because if you go to FordAccesories.com and search under a 2007 Expedition keypad they list it at $85 plus $10 for dealer installation.

$10 installed? That's crazy dealers around here will charge a min hour labor for anything.

I think you may have found the lowest dealer installation cost on any item ever. The moment my local dealer pulls it into the shop, BAM, $120.

My grandparents were paying nearly $10K/year in property taxes for their condo in NJ. The yard was probably 12' x 12'. Meanwhile, we pay $15K/year for 7 acres in PA. That's why when college was over I didn't return to NJ. F those taxes.

The costs associated with the fob from the OP seem reasonable after the other people chimed in.

I love those fobs and $75 seems well worth it.

I’ll be programming and installing it myself in this case. I’m sure you only get the price listed for item and installation as a package if you buy the keypad through the dealer on accessories. If I bring them a part they didn’t sell me they’d likely charge me through the nose lol. I Agree it’s a nice thing to have should you ever leave the keys inside, worth the price.

Tasca emailed me that they don’t stock the keypad and had to special order.

Edit: So impatient me didn’t want to wait for tascas 2 week lead time and I cancelled my order with them. Stopped by the dealer and they had one in stock and with discount was the same cost, done deal.

Guys at dealer said to cycle ignition on and off 8 times and leave it on the 8th cycle to program. I also verified this online. My truck isn’t participating!

Edit: got it, was cycling ignition too slow apparently

To program cycle 8 time and leave ignition on the 8th and doors will unlock. Next hit any button on all fobs and hit 7/8 and 9/0 on the keypad. It is now programmed and done deal! I decided to go with @Trainmaster s suggestion and stuck it to my forehead. Always easy to find that way.

OEM keypad is hardwire to the module. It sounds like the stick on wireless is just like a key fob and I would assume battery powered as well. I wonder how that will work in sub freezing temps.

I’m thinking you are correct, unless it harvests natures energy to function the light and signal!

Maybe by the time the battery goes dead the adhesive lets go and it gets lost. Then you buy another.
