so, i am new here, and seek some help.
when driving down the road anywhere from 5 up to 35 mph, a knocking/clicking noise comes from my exp. it doesnt matter if its hot or cold, and sometimes can be felt on the floor. sound is like, a cv joint gone when turning a corner, or like if you stick a baseball card in the spokes of your bicycle and ride fast. any help? i had it in to ford earlier in the year and they told me it was the rear end and a few other things and $2100 later its still doing it. any suggestions?

Did you verify if it is coming from underneath it. If so I had the same problem and found out it to be my cat converter with the honeycomb inside knocking cause it was bad. Could give that a look.

i havent looked at that. my car is at ford right now, they say its the right manifold leaking and needs replaced...when i am driving down the road, any speed up to 40, i hear something just knocking around and we can feel it in the floor...ill have them check that. my other half and i didnt agree with the manifold causing the noise, so i go in tomorrow for a test ride with the shop foreman.

Well if. It were to be your right exhaust manifold you would lose power. Were you? Remember a Ford dealer will try and get the most out of you.when I had that problem when I would stop at a light I would hear a knocking noise from underneath the unit. And while at high speeds. Let us know what they tell you.

It's coming for right under the car? Can you pinpoint the location of the noise, or at least give a general area? Does it stop if you stop giving it gas (but still going 5-40mph), or does it keep on doing if you, say, start coasting from 40 down to stop?

So it's speed dependent, not RPM dependent? Not too sure, but I would think that a manifold leak would be heard if you revved it in Park, not just when you're moving.

Might be a bit more labor intensive, but try jacking each tire and spinning it by hand. For the rear, you'll have to put it in Neutral (make sure to block off the opposite front tire).

ok, so i went to my personal mechanic and they replaced the manifold. my car still makes the noise. i am now assuming its the CAT as now, my check engine light came on and i feel the spittering and sputtering. the mechanic did some other things as well because when i would come to a stop, the vehicle would increase RPM from where it normally sits up to between 2 & 3, which whatever it did didnt work. I am at my wits end with this vehicle, $3k+ in less than 6 months into it
