You don't have to remove head, but depending on how stuck, and location, you might have to remove and reinstall and time in camshaft. Not a big deal if you do. The one towards rear in head cam lifters, their called that, but really aren't like a pushrod motor, get lack of oil, and get stuck. Theirs many videos online that show the F150/Expedition lifter diagnostic and removal. As always we here recommend buying/borrowing a Ford dealer repair CD before you jump in. Their less than $20.00 and will help with job and other repairs that will surely pop up .
