I have an 05, i love it. Especially since i have 4 kids. It runs good, but if you try to accelerate hard it down shifts and revs up but will start to lose speed. It also has a very noticeable lose of power when the ac is on. Any ideas?

Not my expertise topic to answer but I'll give it a go.....
The lack of power in the motor or electronics when the AC is on? If electronics something to look at is the alternator being bad (just put a 150 amp in mine makes a difference big time). Motor not sure..

For the loss of power when hard accelerating I would say check coils and spark plugs as they tend need replacement frequently. Other than that it's a pretty common problem with these trucks

The downshifting is normal for a quick increase in speed. The loss of power plus increase in rpms - if it stays elevated without an increase in speed, points to a transmission issue. First thing to check is the transmission fluid level and condition. It normally is a candy apple red color and doesn't have a burnt smell. If yours is brown and has a burnt smell.....$$$$$
If you keep the throttle applied while the rpms are up you are heating up the internal components and fluid to an unacceptable level which shortens the transmissions life. You are doing the same thing as slipping the clutch on a manual transmission.
