lift for 35's on 98 expo

I raised my torsion bars to level truck and was going to run 33's on my procomp 22's. Now I have decided just to go ahead and get a lift and run some 35's. What lift do most run for 35's? Plan on selling the 22's and go with some 17 or 18's with mud grappler 35's? Also what gearing is best for that setup? thanks in advance

mine has torsion crank and 2" spacers in rear along with a 3" bodylift with 35's. Stock gears.

torsion crank and spacers you can run 35s. there will be rubbing though. do a body lift and youll be fine. or get a 4" lift and you can run 35s no problem. rcd rancho... i think. i know rcd cause nvycrmn has one. he has 35s. and stock gears is fine. walnuts runns 37s on stock gears. but if you want to change do 4.55 for 35s or 4.88 for bigger.

I could easily pull out my 3" body lift and still run the 35s with only the 4" Rancho suspension lift in place. To put it in perspective and as a comparison, the distance from the ground to the top of my running board is just over 19 inches. edit 24"

Rancho advertises the lift as a 4" but measuring against a stock truck, mine seems to be closer to 5".


By the way you have to be careful how you measure it ... In order to eliminate the differences in tire size, you need to measure both trucks from the ground to the bottom of the axle tube and then from the ground to a point on the frame. Then you do a little math to get the acutal lift.

yes, i too have the rancho 4" lift and i clear 35's just fine.

thanks guys, i think i am going with the 4" rancho lift and maybe even a body lift too. I pulled my running boards off when i did the torsion bars, so I probably have to get a step put on so my wife can still drive it. She hates getting in it now. If i get the body lift too, I may run bigger than 35's. Will keep yall updated. Going thru trying to sale our house first, since we moved out in the country. But the truck is next on the list

if you do body lift and 4" rancho or rcd. you can runn 37s. walnuts like his 37s but he could run 40s.

That just don't seem right, from the ground to top of your running board is only 19"? I have no lift except for torsion bars turned up to level and I am at 19.5" to the bottom edge of truck where top of running board would be

You're right. It's actually just slightly under 24". The top of the board is actually an inch or two below the bottom edge of the rocker panel.


(the two step folding stool that I use to let shorter folks climb in is 18 1/2")

if your gonna do a suspension and don't wanna spend the cash for a 6" fabtech look into the zone offroad 6" kit...

How good is that zone6 lift compared to fabtech or ranch

IMO fabtech is the best... not because its what I run but in all the trucks I have helped install their lifts it was great quality products and their customer service was always great.... plus my old 97 f150 had a fabtech and both me and the new owner wheeled the hell out of that truck and the kit held up. Expy has been holding up great too just doesn't wheel as much as old truck did... this is more a family truckster that hauls my boat and takes me hunting...


as far as zone I haven't seen a expy with their lift but while at bloomsburg pa. jamboree last summer talked to their reps and saw other trucks with their lifts and it looked pretty good to me...

I"ve got 2"spacers and 2" keys + 3" body run 35" but they do touch sometimes. Hoping for the 6" fabtech next and 40's.

I think that as long as you stay away from the "show kits" (like full throttle) that you'll be happy with the results.
