Lift question!

hey guys, me again... lol

anyways, I wanted to do a 4-5" lift, but after i saw the prices i lost my breath a little.

so, i was thinking about fractioning the cost and going for a 3" leveling kit.

anybody know any good life-lasting brands?

also, what do you think would be the biggest all-terrain tire i can fit on it without having to cut fenders and without having any rubbing?

probably would want a 16x9, 16x10, 18x9, or 18x10 wheel.

suggestions please?

do a torsion twist in the front and get 2-3" and use a spacer in the rear you can get a 2" spacer for $50 and a 3" for $70... you should be able to run 305/70/16 with no rubbing

what leveling/lift option do i have to fit something a little bigger? i was aiming for a 315 at the least

I have 315/75/16's . No rubbing with 2 inch spacers in the back, about 1.5 inch torsion crank in the front and a 3 inch body lift. I couldn't spend more on the lift then what the truck was worth, so I went with the above lift.

Me and KWT2000 are both running 16 x 8's. He has roughly the same lift as me, only he has 3 inch spacers in the back, and I believe he is cranked a little higher in the front. I was at about 2 inches, but I dialed it down a bit after I did the Body lift so it looked more level.

and how much do you think i would pay for a the body lift/suspension lift or leveling kit?

as well as the rims/tires?

i probably want an 8 spoke with the chrome wheel/black rim and obviously the all terrain tires with the thick tread.

sorry for asking so many questions but it seems as if the hours i spend searching the web, the less info i find..

Try fleabay for rims. I'm the wrong one to ask cuz I'm from Canada, so everything up here is double what you guys pay. My tires ran $1300, rims were $400, Torsion crank was the price of a 18mm socket and a breaker bar ($20) Body lift was around $200 and labor was about $700. Gap guards were around $80 shipped.

Like I said, cut that all about in half and it's probably what you guys would pay in the US. Or if you are handy and have a buddy to give you a hand, the Body Lift might just cost you a case of beer and a pizza for labor. Dgray69 did his own BL by himself, and it just seems like to much work. Get a shop to do it for you. IMO.

i was on the phone earlier with a shop a few miles away from me. saw the prices of the suspension lift and nearly fainted.

i think a 3 inch leveling kit, along with a 3 inch body lift and lets say, maybe 500 dollars of labor isn't to bad. what... 1200 dollars?

plus another 1200 for the rims/tires...

2400 bucks to have my truck up in the air and looking good. it doesn't too bad for me.

guess it's time to go make some CASH!

your body lift shouldnt cost you more than 1k installed. the kits itself is only 200 bucks. its the labor that kills ya. but like lane said, if you got some buddies who are handy with a wrench, shouldnt take you guys but a couple of hours. that would save you 700 bucks right there. if you pick up a petersen's 4wheel offroad magazine, they have tire/wheel combos that are reasonably priced. if you were closer, i would sell you my 16x10 wheels to get you started.

i've got a friend of mine that i've worked with for about a year now. he's real handy. he lifted his jeep 6" by himself. i would feel kinda bad to bribe him to work on mine though. let me just get a confirmation from you though, i can get my truck 6 inches higher just with the 3 inch leveling kit, and 3 inch body lift?

Plus whatever the difference your tire height will be. If you are running 31 ish size tires now and go to a 35 you will be going up another couple of inches + the 6 inches of lift you are getting. It's a huge difference. Anyway, I'm off to bed, check you guys later.

im off to bed too but thought i would chime in. if you throw just the body lift on and the 35's you will see a difference. and you dont have to bribe him, just ask him. im sure if he has done it before, he wouldnt mind helping do it again. the beer is for when you get thirsty and the pizza for when you get hungry! hahah. i am going to attempt a body lift on mine hopefully next month. i dont want to pay the 600 bucks for the install. but hey, it might be worth it. if you want to wait until i do mine, i can let you know how it goes. i am probably going to make panda help me!!!!!!

body lifts are not that hard unless you have a lot of rust... they are just really time consuming... but going with a name brand like Performance accesories BL the directions will tell you everything you need to do... the two biggest things before attempting a BL is besides checking for rust 1) soak all bolts with PB Blaster for a few days even a week before you attempt it and 2) make sure you have 2 days free or have a second vehicle while your doing BL.....


o yeah and spray the frame and under carraige very well with a pressure washer before you attempt it because everything is gonna fall all over you!

Man, I would like to put a little lift on my expedition but I have absolutely nothing. The only tools I have is a small tool kit. I have a buddy with a handy dad that I might ask to help.
