I Also like to know what would be the best tuner for the 5.4 V8 25% of the time I'll be off Road 25% of the time I'll be towing the rest of which would be a daily driving so I'd like to be able to find a programmer for better gas mileage with big wheels

2.5" coil spacers (rear)
Torsion twist (front). I got 2" with my factory keys
3" body lift.

Should be about $500 US.

You could also go with a rough country 4" F150 lift and look for some 3" springs on ebay. It will put you right over the $1000 mark but it's a suspension lift.

Otherwise what he ^ said would be your best bet.

Are you looking to just lift or lift to clear a specific tire size?

This is just up my budget alley. I did my 4.5" lift with double stacked hockey pucks for the body lift ( 20 pucks for $40.00 ). 2.5" rear coil spring spacers ( $50.00 on Ebay ).
2.5" - 3" torsion keys for the front ( $30.00 on Ebay ). I run 37" tires with this set up.

$120.00 total plus sweat equity ( priceless )

Redneck special or not, it looks pretty awesome (I'm assuming that's it on the avatar?). How is it handling with the 37s? Do you get any rub after the body lift?

Yep..that's her. 4 days in my driveway with a grinder, welder and driving the neighbors nuts. Wanted something to play in the mesa and go camping in the mountains off old mine roads. Not going to paint it or make it look pretty.

Sorry. didn't read your entire question. No body rub with the lift and the handling is about what you would expect with 37's....meaning bouncy on rough roads, but I have 0 issues going straight down the highway at 70-80 mph if that's your concern. you will get frame rub with tight turns, but I am aware of how tight I can steer so I avoid it. I'm also running stock rims so no offset to help with that

Yeah that was pretty much what I was wondering. I'm used to the frame and torsion bar rub with the 35s, and I'm still considering 37s, but weighting the option of regearing or not (got 3.55s) before moving up in size.

Regear for sure. I feel I'm at the edge on 37's with 3.73, but I spend alot of time in 4low in the mountains so I can get away with it. I'm gonna try to add more shims or clutches to my diff to increase the bias. Can't afford fancy lockers. Any experience with Limited slip?

You got pics? What tranny cooler did you use? I just trash picked a crown vic cop car tranny cooler, but it's 3 times the size of the stock one and not sure how it will effect the tranny. Thoughts?

Guys with V10 and 7.3l Excursions with the 4r100 will swap in the 6.0l diesel transmission cooler- which is basically the width of the radiator and 1/2 the height of the radiator. It's a popular upgrade. Don't see why a 5.4 with the same transmission wouldn't benefit the same.
