Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice before buying a 2017 Ford Expedition EL Limited with 155k miles, sold by a car dealer in Texas.
The price is very attractive, and I’ve already done a test drive — everything felt good: no warning lights, smooth shifting, good power, no strange noises.
According to the records, the vehicle has two previous owners, and no car accidents are reported on the Carfax.
The water pump was replaced in 2021, which I know is an important item on the 3.5L EcoBoost.
Before moving forward, I’d really appreciate your advice on:
I’m trying to avoid any surprises and make an informed decision.
Thanks in advance for your experience and tips — it’s much appreciated!

Before moving forward, I’d really appreciate your advice on:
- What I should pay close attention to during another test drive
- What visual inspections I can do myself (engine bay, under the vehicle, interior, etc.)
- Common red flags at this mileage that might indicate hidden problems or something that’s “too good to be true”
I’m trying to avoid any surprises and make an informed decision.
