I cannot post in the wanted section so hopefully a moderator can move this for me.

My shift lever is cracked all around the OD button and I would like to replace it. Hoping to find a used one since it has no real mechanical value. Anyone parting out a first generation? All the salvage yards here don't have one or they want me to buy the entire steering assembly.

Thanks in advance.

I had that problem on my F150. They make chrome covers that slide over the end. Much faster and relatively cheap fix.

I'm also looking.. its a $.50 peice of plastic but i cant seem to find one. The crome one looks like it eleiminats any chance of pushing the button. NOt a huge deal but I would like to keep it functional. Anybody else ahve any ideas?

Well the one I see in the link I provided looks like it has a button of some sort on the end, and they give you a little window to see the o/d off light, so you would think it retains the functionality. I could not come up with an easy way to do a button on the end of the one I made, so I just drilled out the end (5/8" hole, if I recall) to allow access to the OEM rubber button. You could do the same to the chrome one if it does not have an actual button.
