Looking to buy, have a few questions!

Hello all,

I am a former full size bronco owner, and have a love for the Ford full size SUV's.

I'm in the market for an Expedition. Realistically a 2003 or older as like that body style better. I have been doing my research but still have some questions. First off I will be towing about 6,500 lbs from time to time. (my 3000GT VR4 + trailer and other goodies)


My neighbor has a 2002 XLT, fully loaded, leather, tow package,(factory 7 pin) power seats, 3rd row seat etc... Truck has the 5.4 with about 130k on it. She did tell me that a sparkplug has come out 2 times on her already. (the same one ) I have heard about this issue and it kind of worries me. Shes looking to get $6k for but told me $4.5k for me.

Should I consider this or keep looking?
What are the ods that I will have a sparkplug issue down the road?

Ask her how the threads in the head were fixed after the plug blew out. If it was just threaded back in, you will have to fix it with a helicoil which could run as little as $100 for a DIY. My guess is that it wasn't fixed correctly the first time (obviously), but who know about the second time.

I talked to her and the mechanic who did the work on it(the 2nd time) He said a helicoil was used and "its in there good" is what he said

$4500 is a decent price for an 02. make sure the tranny has been serviced as it will be the weak link with you towing that kind of weight. any other questions please ask

i agree, that isnt a bad price for an 02 as long as she runs good. how many miles were on it? mine is an 01 EB with 111K miles on it and she runs like a champ.

dont get it with air ride,dont get rear a/c....3rd seats a waste. if u can get the 4.6.....GET IT.

air ride and rear a/c give problems in long run........theres something im missing but those r a couple.....



ask if heater core was ever replaced.......just ask,cant hurt. look at transfer case for hand prints....see if motor is DRY underneath....check oil cooling lines......lol
