Magnaflow Direct Fit Cat system.

Finally replacing the original exhaust system with Magna Flow Direct Fit Catalytic converter system with Dynomax catback exhaust on my 1997 Ford Expy, XLT, 4x4, 5.4L. with 140,000 miles.

Getting ready to install the driver's side portion of the cat system (Magnaflow 23718) and it looks like I may need to remove the transmission support cross member to install this portion. Has anyone installed this system to confirm this?

you can wiggle it I think but its up to you.

Exhaust installed.
Had to remove the transfer case support bracket to get out the driver's side section. Not enough room to slide it out.

Any problems with the manifold bolts? or the O2 Sensor?

I sprayed PB Blaster on all of the exhaust manifold bolts the night before. Had one bolt that came out stuck to the nut. Went and bought a bolt set at the parts store and installed the new stud. Replaced all of the nuts with the new ones from the package.

No major problems with O2 sensors. Just have to remove a lot of stuff like heat shield and trans mission dipstick for forward passenger O2 sensor.
The aft driver's side O2 sensor came up hard against the heat shield, so just trimmed it out the keep from rubbing on wires.

Everything fit up perfectly.
