minor accident question

was stopped at a roundabout today and another vehicle ran into us. the rear plastic piece is banged up and the plastic bumper under neath is dislodged. Not sure how much damage but it appears that the rear hitch took all the hit (besides the plastic).

question, does the rear hitch receiver have different slight bends in it from the factory? Not where the hitch goes into the receiver but rather the forming of the "body" of the receiver - runs the length of the rear of the vehicle. trying to figure out if there is more damage than i assumed.

Did the guy hitting you get obliterated?


Unless it gets hit with an engine block, I really don't see a receiver bending from a lovetap....surely not vs. bumper covers or headlights or grilles

I got hit by a fusion right in the hitch a while back in my 07. Destroyed his front end, no damage to my hitch at all and a couple light scuffs that I was able to buff out on the bumper cover. Hitch is probably fine but since its such a new exp I'd still have it looked at. He hit you so any work or appraisal would be on his dime
