Mirrors have lost spring...

My outside mirrors have lost their spring... and they move in as wind speed picks up. Any ideas for a cheap fix?

jam a stick in the gap between the mirror body and the mount assembly.

Flex Seal....will hold it while providing a bit of shock isolation??
