Diameter has everything to do with curb rash. Maybe brush up on first-grade Math?

Larger diameter wheel = less rubber sidewall, which means your rim is closer to the ground, thereby increasing chances of making side contact with a curb.

17" rims on the other hand will have significantly thicker sidewall tires, which alleviate any side contact with curbs.
Curb rash is not just for wheels! Tires get curb rash too! Thts what I’m talking about! Holy shit get it through your thick skull! I get that a smaller diameter wheel= thicker sidewall= less chance of WHEEL getting curbed!

But you put a wider tire on there or a more negative offset wheel, your choice, the whole entire combo is going to stick out farther and you have more of a chance of curbing it. Even with my tires that stick out almost 1.5” past the fenders I have never curbed them when backing or parallel parking and using solely the reverse camera in the dash. Keep the curbs outside of the “colored lines” and you’ll never have to look in your mirrors for help.

Sorry. One other question: can dealers change Forscan settings?

I would like to know how to change it in Forscan.
Here’s a great video you should watch, along with every other 4th gen owner who can’t parallel park

Diameter of the wheels has zero to do with curb rashing. Width would, not diameter. Maybe take a drivers education course??

WRONG(ish)

Because overall wheel+tire diameter is kept largely the same, bigger wheel diameters run lower profile tires

Needless to say, /30 and /35 (%) sidewall tires curb easy, while 70's are actually often difficuly or impossible to curb the rim with

With all the camera's on this 18 I have, I can't imagine curbing it unless you really don't know how to drive or have 25 beers in you. I mean, the 360 shows everything, the rear camera shows plenty AND there's still 3 mirrors on the thing!

No they can use the actual software that Forscan is based off of, called IDS.

Forscan is a reverse engineered version of IDS. It is extremely powerful and you should be careful with what you're doing. If you're not sure, have someone who knows what they're doing do whatever it is you want. There are, however, lots of resources available to learn more.

Don't mention Forscan at a dealer. Ever.

Is there a setting on IDS to tilt the mirrors down?

I'm not sure. You would have to check the forscan spreadsheets that people have made up and see if it's possible to do it. It probably is, because these Expeditions share a common platform with the F150s.

However, whether or not a dealer would enable such changes using IDS, I don't really know, probably just luck of the draw as to which tech you get. I've heard of techs straight up doing such mods using IDS or allowing a customer to do so themselves while they were cheering them on in the corner or just straight up refusing whether by saying they wouldn't do it or its not possible.
Such modifications require a lot of research on your end, although quite a bit has already been done, there is always more.

I back into my garage every day, and into parking spaces when I can. I had this solved on day 1. My preset memory for normal driving is station 1. I reserve station 2 for my senior officer. Station 3 is station 1, but looking at the ground. Easy peezy. I don't need Forscin.

That’s a darn good idea.
