Guys,
I drove my 02 XLT 4.6 again today for the first time in awhile, Still have that freaking miss at a stop light or sign, going down the road as smooth as can be. Code says missfire 5 have changed coils plugs, I have low compression and am 99 percent sure I will need to remove the head and see whats up with the valves on that one. How much of a job is it to remove the head?

If the miss is interment I'd at least change out the injector before I'd go into the head.

Swap the injector with another one and see if the miss follows it. Very easy to swap, should be able to in less than 10 minutes.

How low is it in comparison to the others?

Removing the heads on these over head cam motors is about as difficult job as it gets.

I have removed the heads on my truck twice. Plan on a long weekend. IT is about 4 hours to get the head off and another 4 hours to get it back on. Then you have the work of whatever may be wrong. Keep in mind that you will also need about $150 in parts to put things back together as you will at a minimum need a new head gasket and a new set of head bolts. The bolts are torque to yield which means they get stretched when you install them and can only be used once.

If you need more info, please let me know. I have figured out most of the problems and know a few short cuts to take.
