Hello all I have an 1997 Expedition XLT 4x4 the truck started running rough and I checked for for any codes I was given codes P0305 misfire in cylinder 5
P0306 misfire in cylinder 6 and P1152 lack of heated oxygen sensor ( bank 2 sensor) switch indicates rich. The guy at the auto parts store said if I get a double code it the coil that's bad. I figure the best place to get advice is here since every question I've posted here I was given the right answer to the question.

If you have a 4.6 engine check the following

Automotive Troubleshooting and Test Articles -troubleshootmyvehicle.com
read the article
How to Test the 2 Coil Packs
(Ford 4.6L, 5.4L)

4.The Coil Pack on the passenger side of the Engine feeds Spark to:
1.Cylinders 1 and 6.
2.Cylinders 3 and 5.

5.The Coil Pack on the driver side of the Engine feeds Spark to:
1.Cylinders 4 and 7.
2.Cylinders 2 and 8.

6.The most important thing to remember is that the two Cylinders that get Spark at the exact same time are referred to as ‘Paired Cylinders’ throughout the article.

no matter which engine you have when was the last time you had a tune up Plugs mires or cop's etc How many miles on the expy

O2 sensors measure oxygen content not fuel... surprise right. lol

My point is a misfire lets unburned fuel / oxygen pass through to the exhaust and should create a lean reading as read by the O2 sensor not rich since it actually registers O2 not the fuel.

I myself would tend to suspect the upstream O2 sensor on bank 2 because of this with a "rich" code set.

thanks...The engine is 4.6, I just pulled plug 5 and it had antifreeze in the spark plug well, I don't know where its from but over the summer I had the timing chain cover replaced. Is it possible that's where its from when they did the job. I didn't pull plug 6 yet the boot is stuck on plug 6 and didn't want to break it going to buy new wires in the morning

Spray some pentrating fluid into the well let it sit for awhile try to remove plug by turn out and turning in until you get the plug out also clean out plug well and use more pentrating fluid as needed while you are trying to remove the plug don't be too forceful

Ive been trying to fix the miss fire in cylinder 5 and 6 but from what i have read the coil pack on passenger side controls cylinder 1 and 6 and cylinder 3 and 5. So that means cylinder 1 and 6 paired and cylinder 3 and 5. My question is if cylinder 5 and 6 have miss fire codes and no codes for cylinder 1 and 3 does that that they are ok. Thanks for the help
