Was bored last night and starting thinking....possible to mount an Ipad into the console of my 04 xlt? Obviously it would be a custom mod. Would be sweet tho...music, Nav, internet (with the 3g) Whatcha think? The specs are 9.5 x 7.31 x .34

I stuff my boys Netbook (okay I bought a computer rather than a simple DVD player for the boys) and store it in the console - even with the cd changer - sits in their great - now in my case that is closed up - I point it to the boys in the back seat with movies ontop of the console to watch movies - my idea of a DVD player but without the DVD's (digital data on Hard Drive - I've got like 30 movies on the HD)

Just spoke to a guy at a local car audio place here in town (Bad2TheBone) and he figures we could fab the dash to receive one of the existing Ipad receiving stations and have the station rather than the Ipad itself hard wired. That way if I wanna pop the Ipad out and take it with me, I can! I'm pretty excited about this, would love to know if anyone else has attempted / achieved it!

I saw a few examples of this in cars. One guy had it completely installed in a 300C as if it was stock and looked pretty amazing.

Then there were videos of a guy putting one into a Tacoma I think but getting it to do everything from power up when turning the key to "acc" to giving turn by turn navi. He put a lot of work into and documents it pretty well.
