what is the biggest mud tire you can fit on a 1998 xlt expedition without a lift?

285's will rub at full turn and 305's will as well. If you trim a little from the trim 305's will fit, tight but fit.

285/75r16 on stock rims fit with no problem... might have to crank torsion bars a little but thats a free lift

i was on f150online and the guys said 315 would fit. but... i would have to keep stock tires and there will be rubbing. if i got aftermarket rims they would rub. i didnt under stand that. but 285s would be nice.

I fit 285/75/16 Kelly Safari TSR on the stock rims with no lift whatsoever and I do not rub, even when cranked.

what if i have an aftermarket rim that is an inch wider than stock? they are 17 by 8.5

If you have a +6 to +12 offset you can fit 305/75/16's without rubbing. If you have factory offset and width you can still fit em with just a tiny bit of rubbing at full crank on the frame. (thats what i got)
