So today my intention was to replace my drivers side rear axle seal that is leaking pretty badly. Last week I bought new seals and today new bearings. I figure as long as I am in there, right?
So I jack it up, put it on jack stands remove the wheels, I started on the passengers side and I notice that the pads were shot, totally. I go over to the drivers side where it is leaking and the dust shield is totally rotted and gear oil is EVERYWHERE, the shoes for the E-brake are SOAKED.
I just went over to Autozone bought a set of rear pads and put it all back together. I want to do it all once and do it right so I am about to jump on Ebay, buy new ceramic pads and cross drilled and slotted rotors for the rear and then order new dust shields as well as ebrake shoes and new hardware kit. I am also gonna need like a case of brake clean-lol
I will be taking pics as I do this next week if anyone needs any how to or whatever although there is actually a pretty good how to for the seals on Youtube where a guy did his F150
Edit, there is a "bracket lever" type thing that the ebrake cable hooks to that was pretty corroded so I had to take that all apart, wire wheel it and grease it up so it will work again
