So today my intention was to replace my drivers side rear axle seal that is leaking pretty badly. Last week I bought new seals and today new bearings. I figure as long as I am in there, right?
So I jack it up, put it on jack stands remove the wheels, I started on the passengers side and I notice that the pads were shot, totally. I go over to the drivers side where it is leaking and the dust shield is totally rotted and gear oil is EVERYWHERE, the shoes for the E-brake are SOAKED.
I just went over to Autozone bought a set of rear pads and put it all back together. I want to do it all once and do it right so I am about to jump on Ebay, buy new ceramic pads and cross drilled and slotted rotors for the rear and then order new dust shields as well as ebrake shoes and new hardware kit. I am also gonna need like a case of brake clean-lol

I will be taking pics as I do this next week if anyone needs any how to or whatever although there is actually a pretty good how to for the seals on Youtube where a guy did his F150

Edit, there is a "bracket lever" type thing that the ebrake cable hooks to that was pretty corroded so I had to take that all apart, wire wheel it and grease it up so it will work again

Don't you hate when projects seem to grow well beyond original expectations?!

Looks like you have your work cut out for you... good luck. :)

I know when I am done the rear axle will have new bearings, axle seals, dust shields, cross drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic brake pads from Brakemotive76 on Ebay, ebrake shoes and hardware kit. All that will be a good feeling and have that project completed 100% with top quality parts

I would too!!! I havent installed them cause, that requires work, and I am being super lazy this weekend no one even knows I am home.. hehe

But no I am really waiting for the anodized lines, & fittings, I mean old lines with 191k miles on them trying to feed 6 piston calipers not such a good idea.... just saying

So are you doing ALL the lines over right from the MC or ABS block or just the flexible lines going to each wheel? Which Brembo kit is it- PN?

The whole system, the lines coming out from the MC are rusted, I am shocked they hadnt busted yet due to a few to the floor brake stops. stupid people

I had to replace on of theose short braided lines from the MC to the ABS block below it when I was towing my trailer with the harley in it to Myrtle beack. I also have a thread asking for a complete brake line diagram and where to buy the lines- do you have that info?

so those are the lines that connect from the metal brake line and go out to each wheel? I have to replace all my lines, I was towing my trailer and had to doa pnic stop and blew out a line... Talk about a "pucker" moment.
Actually on the same trip I blew one of the braided lines from the MC to the ABS block then on the return trip I blew the line that goes from the ABS block and heads down the drivers side towards the back. I am eventually gonna do them all
