When they painted the grille, did they clear over it?

I'm sure you know this already but hydrographics are clear coated after application. If you are having issues with chipping on clear coated paint, then I don't think the hydro is going to hold up much better.

You know what you bring up a good point. I asked for satin black to match the rims. I didnt think about that. Satin means a light layer if any right? I just spoke with the hydro guy and he said $200 for the whole grille. He first paints it the color I want the carbon (which is black) then hell add the paper, then he said he does 3 coats of clear to give it depth and protection. Im not worried about matching the rims since its a different texture. Also I found that 3d carbon makes a small spoiler for the rear of the hatch which would mimic that of the S331 F150 tailgate one. I just ordered the piece and will have it hydro dipped at the same time.

On another note, these just came in! Oe Saleen badges.

Satin black if done properly is a clear coat that has a matting agent in it. Just base it in black then add the clear w/ matte agent. Doesn't mean only a light coat. Also when painting the chrome it has to be sanded very very well then add a couple coats of adhesion promoter. Then do the paint clear. But even that is iffy. It's a pain painting chrome. Might want to look for a bare plastic one off ebay to have dipped.

The ride looks great though.

yes I removed it. once you get the rear interior panel off and pull (gently) the plastic guard it's I believe 4 bolts and one plug.

Oh and hint when taking off the rear interior panel pop the glass before starting and unscrew the two bolts there.
