Looking to replace the factory stereo with a Navigation headunit in my 04 Expy... anyone have any suggestions? There's a ton of them out there, would just like to hear from some people who have them... I know brands differ greatly. Ive always had good luck with pioneer head units, but havent ever looked into a nav unit before.

Also, would you recommend a detachable face unit? Looking at pro's/con's (beyond the obvious).

I prefer something that will sync well with my iphone, and can add sat radio as well..

Thanks!

personal preference really amongst brands...and with double diin or single diin...i prefer double diin to take all the space...no need for anything to fill space...huge opening and a little head unit...not my preference...with that said...you want a nav/bt/xm or sirius ready...i have that and paid $800...pioneer avic-d3

top 3 brands are pioneer...kenwood...and i cant think of the other one...but you have panasonic/eclipse/jvc/clarion...i recommend going to crutchfield.com..."outfit my car" and they will show you everything that will fit plus show give you whatever discounts the manufacturer has...then search on the internet for cheaper if you want...

i say buy from crutchfield to get the FREE wiring harness and faceplate to include FREE LIFETIME SUPPORT as long as you have the equipment...so if you ever swap it to another vehicle...they will still help you...

I'm a huge fan of pioneer! but theres hella sony's on sale now for around $600 (guess they know its tax time) so that would be my bet. double din way badasser than single din. as faar as detachable face im not sure most have that capability anymore. most 7" units are motorized

I have a Kenwood double din umit in my 2008. GREAT unit. I added the bluetooth unit after I had installed it. Worth every penny. I also have a backup camera that works with this head unit.

I bought the head unit from Crutchfield.com and the bluetooth unit from Overstock.com.

Since I have steering wheel controls, I also bought the interface unit from Crutchfield. You may pay a little more from them, but their customer service and technical support are worth it.

By the way this is the second Kenwood unit I bought. The first is in my 2005 F-250. Both have been trouble free and work flawlessly.

I'm crurious about aftermarket head units - has anyone managed to find one that ALSO maintains the functionality ot the rear passenger seat remote control panel ?
i'd like to up date the factory unit in my 98' but i want to keep the functionality of that small control panel for the back seat.

2005 Expedition with Clarion HU

I just purchased a used 2005 Ford Expedition that came with a Clarion NX409 head unit. Im not really a fan of it since the NAV isn't quick and accurate, and the FM radio is not working right. I like the touchscreen, but just not a fan of Clarion. Any suggestions on which one is better for a bargain buyer? Any help would be great. Thanks.

You want to know if what is better? You can go on crutchfield.com and see what bargain deals they have and shop the net for cheaper

You just bought a 5 year old product, sounds like you got a bargain already.
