heres the deal i really want to lift the expy but im worried about my wife being able to get the kids in the truck. we have two special needs kids ages 1 and 3 but both must be carried and lifted into truck. we both want it lifted and obviously she needs the runnin boards it helps when you are reaching across to buckle them into the car seats. im thinkin about going with a 3 in body lift and puttin 33s on and keeping stock running boards... she also was to do an eddie bauer gold paint delete lol she said paint the gold white or black i dont care. im headed off to work now but i thought i would throw this out there and see all of your opinions

just do a torsion crank and coil spacer. 2". itll be lifted but not high. and to help with the stock running boards bed line them. best thing i ever did. its adds to the grippyness if its ever wet out. and just add a few more layers of bed liner to the rear part of the boards so she dont slip putting the little ones in.

Hey Panda could you put up some pics of your running boards thats a really cool idea. I may consider doing that and putting my boards back on. My wife hates the fact I took them off, now im the only one who can put the baby in and reach to buckle her lol.

I have just the torsion twist and 33's right now and it looks really mean. I am going taller but I think 33's and a twist would be perfect for what your looking for!

Mine has T-bar crank. I also have stock size 265's. I like it, you wont get a tru 2", unless your completely un-cranked. But should be enough to make it look good.

If you want to keep a comfortable ride, and still be able to feel your rear end in the seat after a bumpy ride. I suggest the performance acc. body lift.. they're pretty cheap and you can get it in 2 inch, or 3 inch. also include the bumper lift brackets. ( You'll need a tow package now) No towing with the lifted bumper!

You can clear all the way to a 35 inch tire with the 3 inch kit, and a tiny bit of bumper trimming, then you'd only have to lift the torsion a turn and a half, at most.

Keep the factory running boards , and you can either go one of two routes, bedliner, it tends to hold up well, although it COULD fade and chip. Or You could use a heat gun or hair dryer, and use black skateboard grip tape. again, it could wear eventually. but holds up in the rain.

finally , another alternative is to go to your local schucks, or auto zone- or advanced auto, and pick up some gritty tape! it's like bedliner, but on a roll.. you can put it where ever you want it, and still cut it down for a custom fit.

If you're only looking to go with 33's whether MT or AT, id really just suggest doing the 2 inch. But if , in the future you're thinking 35's .. Just get the three inch, believe me.. once you install those lift blocks, you'll never want to do it again.

Good luck! and let us know what you decide on!

that was after one coat. so they look all weird while still wet. but after a few more coats they came out great. what i recommend is at least one light coat then after a few go ******* coats. that will allow for some grippyness. you know shaking the can while spraying kinda painting. haha

I wouldnt do it. I went through this when I lifted my truck. My wife has somewhat of a tough time carrying my daughter into her seat along with her bags and crap. I cant imagine having to carry a three year old into a lifted truck especially for your wife.

i know what you mean sol she just really likes the look and i think she would regret it. heres my only thinkin... 3 in bdy lift and 33's... will i fit in parking garages she looks kinda close now.

panda i like the bedliner idea i was thinkin just get some black runnin boards off a regular expy and my reason behind that was i have tore mine up a lil using them as rock sliders and the plastic is died so when you scratch it they are still beige gold whatever just scratched so if i used black ones i wouldnt have to touch up the paint but bedliner may hold up.

i also would recomend buying adhesion promoter when painting plastics, so the paint doesnt chip.

also i dont want rubbin cause i flex her bad offroad already. this christmas i was thinkin body lift and programmer maybe some 17x9 dc2s and some nitto terra grapplers money permitting of course.

o ya and im afraid to do a torsion twist... this damn thing is rusty like also needs every part of rear suspension rusty
