I am wanting to increase my HP and Torque so I have been looking into performance tuners. I am looking to get some feed back (pros or cons) about them. What kind is good and what kind to stay a way from.

The main reason I am looking to add one is for towing. I have an EB 5.4L, it tows my 6000 LB trailer ok but I would like to get up the hills better.

Please let me know what you think.

The biggest difference that I saw using the edge programmer was with the transmission.
The programmer eliminated the slow, sloppy shifts, which made it far better to tow.
In doing so, it also eliminated the heat that builds up from all that slipping, which will extend the life of the transmission.

Don't expect huge gains in HP and torque from a programmer. You may pick up a few hp and even a few mpg.

IMHO a programmer, chip, CAI, exhaust etc do nothing to inrease towing power on a small gasser. It is what it is and you're wasting your money. Just deal with it. If you want bigger power get a bigger motor. There's no replacement for displacement. As previously mentioned, you may improve shifts points, throttle response, or the seat of the pants feel. But if you timed your hill climb before and after the mod you wouldnt see any significant gains. The only way to tow with power is a big block gasser or a diesel. I have had both. My 5.4 tows a 6000lb trailer adequately. Not the first to the top but it gets there. It's primary use a daily driver where its much better then the big block. I used to tow with a V10. Great for towing but not as good as a daily driver. I also have a 9000lb trailer I tow with a diesel. If you want to buy the bolt on parts just for fun go ahead but dont expect much.

well if your looking for cheap and easy mods for more power I would suggest an under drive pulley kit. that along with a chip and exhaust may bring noticeable results. other than that, get a diesel, or spend 2-4k on a supercharger and everything it takes to get a stock 5.4 to deal with the power..
