Hi, thanks for letting me join, my brother in law sent me to this forum hoping you guys could help me with my late husband's 03 eddie bauer edition expedition. The truck has a whining noise in the rear amoung other things and the dealer seems to think it needs new barrings, is this true you think? any help would be appreciated.

thank you, Dutnall

Welcome! Does the noise happen when under acceleration, or whenever the wheels rotate regardless of gas pedal or not? If it's all the time, a bearing is very possible. If it's only under acceleration, differential is more likely.

yes, it is only upon acceleration when the noise happens and only on the drivers side, it seems. I'm taking it to small local shop this afternoon for a check to see what they say because like another member said the dealers are usually more money.

thank you for your help
