Congrats on the new ride. Yes it has a chip in it. Ebay and stealerships have keys.

My 98' only came with one key too. I bought mine on fleabay. 2 for $11 plus shippping. Had them cut at the local key shop, and programmed them myself. 2001's might need 2 keys to program, so you may have to have a locksmith or stealership program it for you, but luckily mine only needed one to do the programming.

99+ have the "PATS keys" the chips and you have to have two programmed keys to program a other keys... the dealership is the only way to get a second key made up then any others you can get off ebay and have someone cut them and then program yourself.... directions are also in owners manual.... I'm running into same problem now with new car I just bought... lucky my expy came with 2 keys

My 98' also has the "PATS key". Just that it is a PATS1. I just think FORD realized it was to easy and convenient for owners, so the had to 'improve' it for the newer models.
