New radio bad fm reception

Just installed a new Jensen 7" head unit when I installed it radio worked great but when started driving the reception just got bad sometimes it comes on real good and other times it just horrible is there a secret to getting it to work good I also made sure the attenna cable was good and tight, I didnt connect the power attenna wire didn't think I would need to since no attenna to go up

I think its the jensen brand. Had a jensen a few years ago and in certain areas I could barely get a signal and I live in the city.... Terrible, that's why they're so cheap

Check the factory antenna connector, sometimes them ***** can get rusty! I just had to change one out last month i did an install on an 01 lightning the wire was brittle and the connector was hella rusty, just cut off the end (of the factory connecotr) and buy an adapter. Remove the male and of the adapter and attach it to the freshly cut factory wire and bingo your back listening to 5pm traffic jams
