Just thought I'd share the new tires I bought for my expedition. BF Goodrich All Terrain KO2's. I bought them for a great price at a local tire shop! They're 245-75-16's and I happy with my purchase so far. Just waiting for the first snow to see how well they really perform. It was such a blessing from God to get this caliber of tire for the price I did. On to the pic's!

They supposedly work way better in snow/ice than the original KOs. I have those on my Explorer and can confirm that they pretty well suck on snow/ice.

Thats my Goodyear Wrangler AT/S 265/70/R17s. I just got them this summer, and today if you google the weather in Denver, you will see that I got a good test driving my son to school this morning.

I didnt even use AWD, I drove in 2WD and never looked back. Its not like I have a comparison, I have only had the Expy so long, and not in the winter yet. I can only report happy with the performance. 11 miles in 33 degree slushy roads with more falling on the way. I get on highway for 2 miles of it, and starting up on concrete overpasses was no problem, and maintaining control at 55 was good for a soaked onramp.

I'm not sure which part of the world you live in (I'm using the Tapatalk app) but I had the original bf Goodrich at tires on 3 different vehicles and loved them on the ice and snow.

Winters are almost 6 months long and are very cold with lots of snow, and I would get great performance from the tires. I guess it can be very hard to judge a tire since I thought they were great and you didn't like them at all.

Either way the new bf Goodrich at's look awesome and I'm sure they perform well, and they look great in your expedition!

Where I am we've usually had our first snow. So I've been greatful that hasnt happened yet. But I'm certain these will do way better than the bald tires I took off, lol! Thanks for the compliment on how they look! Im pretty fond of them!

Prior to my first set of BFG KOs, I had several years of winter driving with dedicated winter tires. The kind that work great in snow and cold temps but wear like warm butter on dry hot pavement. I was excited to have a year round tire with the 3 mountain snow flake symbol when I got the KO. However, the first time the roads were covered in snow, I learned that those were no where near a dedicated winter tire. They would accelerate well but had poor braking performance.

Then I got a 2nd set. This time bigger and wider for offroad performance. Nothing improved with snow traction. Might have been worse with the lowered contact pressure of the wider tire.

And if you look at the customer surveys, you can see the KO is barely hanging on to the #8 spot while the new KO2 sits at the top of the pile:

Also know a guy who was a die hard KO fan. He thought they were amazing tires. Then he got a set of Michelin AT2 and was blown away by how much better they were. And the survey reflects that as well.

I see, compared to winter tires that's totally understandable. My only other experiences with at tires were off brand types, so to me they were the cats ass.

Re hatching since we had another great storm here on Thanksgiving. I had to drive around to pick up some people so I got to experience all that compacted snow and slush have to offer, and again, performed admirably. Did use AWD this time, and needed it, lots of quality fishtailing.

I always liked using ATs year round. Since in the summer I pull and camp places that need ATs, and they drive great in snow. That way I dont have 2 sets of tires.

We had some snow fall here two weekends ago. These KO2's worked really well in the snow. I had to work to spin the tires and stopping was very good. Not dedicated snow tires for sure. But i was very confident in the traction they provided. Plus the tire size I have is more narrow and taller than stock which probably helps me push through the snow better. I think these are a great tire! Im looking forward to going to Silver Lake sand dunes next summer!

And for the real test...

We were supposed to get 1-3", we got just over a foot of fresh powder. School was called early, so I was at home with the wife and kids. We went to Costco. All roads, nothing special from that standpoint, but there was at the time, the first 7" of snow, little plowing, and more coming down.

Other than the classic fishtails, which no one can avoid around Colorado style snow, Another admirable performance. I had to drive in 4 wheel most of the ride, I needed it to start from the dead stop of a red light. AWD did little to help, but 4H as usual wins the day. I really like this flip switch thing, seeing as my last truck had Manual hubs...

How is the (dry) road noise? Noticeably louder? Or nothing to be concerned about

ATs of any kind are louder than road tires, but I find no difference in my Expy (I have noticed it in smaller XJ's).
