Well you can probably fit a bigger tire on your factory rims but the question is will it rub or not? Even if you are planning on putting on a lift, the offset of factory wheels won't often let you go with a much wider tire. I went down to Discount Tire here in NM and they were willing to try different over-sized tires for me and let me test drive around the parking lot to see if they rubbed or not. It was of course with the understanding that the biggest tire I could fit, I would buy from them.

If they are the stock aluminums then you will be fine with a 285/70/17. Thats about a 33" tire. After that you are going to have some rubbing at full lock. However they make spacers that will set the wheel farther out, allowing for a wider tire, but some states have laws against having that. Mine are also 33's on the 16" rim and they run great.

However i am also assuming your truck is 4x4 like mine. The 4x4's ride higher than 4x2's and so you might have more problems with a 33" tire.

Here is a nice tire size calculator that I use all the time.

Tire Size Calculator - tire & wheel plus sizing

I have 275/60/17 on mine and I get a slight rub at full lock. Tire grazes the swaybar. I plan on getting a set of spacers prior to my next tire purchase as I want to go bigger. Still have lots of tread left so it won't be for a while. Stock size on the door sticker is 255/60/16. I guess the previous owner replaced them with 17" from another expedition.

Here are the wheels I have. They are 17x7.5

275/60/17 is 10.82 inches wide.
The first number, 275, is the width of the tire in mm.
The second number, 60, is the ratio between the width and the height. So multiply 275mm*0.60 = 165mm. This is the Height of the sidewall.

Think there's anyway i could fit a 275/70 on them? Those are the same rims i have.

Plavin,

It is a taller tire but you should be able to fit it. Like Exia posted earlier 33" is the biggest stock.

275/60 is a 30" tire and 275/70 is a 32" tire.

Yes but that is an unrecognized tire size. 285/75R17 is going to be a 33" tire that tire manufacturers produce but the choices are limited. BFG makes the Mud Terrain T/A MK2 in that size. I think nitto and toyo also make some. Check out the link in my first post and play around with the numbers till you get what you want. Nice thing about that link is that it tell you what tires are available in the size you specify.
