Noise when cranking cold

I have an 07 Expy Lmt and when I crank the car cold it makes like a flapping noise, sometimes its a long noise, sometimes its a short noise. It doesn't make it if its warmed up or has already been cranked(cranked and them immediately cranked again). Does any one have any idea what this could be.

Check on YouTube for Ford cam phaser and see if the sound is similar.

Have someone crank the truck while you listen at the engine bay. Try to pinpoint the location of the noise.

Sounds like timing chain tensioner is bleeding off, common on 3v motors. Like stamp says, pull up some videos and listen to see how yours compares. Brian with FordTechMakuyouLoco will have videos covering the different sounds and needed repairs.
