So while my truck was in the shop getting the turbo and throttle body replaced, they either lost or stole my ODBlink reader. I need to buy a new one and can’t determine if I should get the MXplus or the BlueDriver. What are your thoughts?

Panlong brand elm327 for 12 or so bucks from Amazon does everything well if you don't do Forscan (not sure about that one, haven't tried yet)

Mine has lasted since like 2015 or 2016, I just leave it plugged in always in my daily driver

OBDLink MX+
All vehicle premium upgrade options are included with the MX+ now not just one vehicle.

It's a racket, they sell what everyone else has free afaik

Or are you saying it has extended dealer scantool options like airbag resets, diesel SCR cleaning, diagnostic of brand-specific crap like BMW idrive faults, etc?

I think it does have airbag resets etc. I’m trying to make sure my $100 is well spent...

Works fine with Torque

I have the MX and Bluedriver. I use the mx for forscan and bluedriver for the Mode6 feature. I've never been able to find mode6 with the mx and personally prefer the bluedriver interface but the bluedriver wont do forscan

I use ForScan a lot and don’t want to risk issues with that. It’s the reason I bought the MX in the first place.

What are you using mode6 for in a real life setting? I’m curious because I thought mode6 data on fords is mostly dynamic for live monitoring and doesn’t actually flag an issue. I suppose if something is intermittent and not actually flagging then you could, in theory, spot it while carefully monitoring mode6...but this doesn’t seem likely...maybe I’m missing something. I’m curious to know because I might want that functionality??

I use it to catch the occasional misfire that doesn't set a code. As you know the lovely 3 valve is famous for that but not sure with your ecoboost.

But again forscan will not work with the bluedriver

My understanding is that they are the expanded options. I am still learning this stuff so I am not positive.
I got lucky and paid $50 for mine on a Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal. I know ABS scans and resets are part of the expanded portion. At least for Ford it does appear to have airbag resets.
I have not dig into the BMW stuff so I am not sure.

Muddy, sorry to hear about all the truck issues you've been having lately, man.

As for the OBD, I'd do the OBDLink MX+. Great little unit.
