The truck 98 2wd expedition 188K on the clock.
Intake was changed prior to my ownership to the aluminum one YEAH!
The top end was " rebuilt " prior to ownership. The evidence are receipts and FRESH gaskets. Was a Texas truck now California truck so not a rust bucket.. and every electrical connector I have pulled to date doesn't have corrosion in it.
The truck has LOTS of power only a SUPER slight miss at idle W/O ac on ( since the idle is lower ) Codes thrown or not.
Since I have owned the truck this " code "' has popped up at random.. it USED to be on both sides ( Bank 1 & 2 ) but I replaced some vac lines on the vac valves behind the battery that were WAY crunchy. that stopped the bank 1 codes.
Yesterday we replaced the line that goes behind the intake ( engine centerline ) to the pass side PCV and all that multiple 90 deg rubber stuff ( FORD WTH were you thinking when you " designed " that) ? So 1 LITTLE problem I assume the vac port on the rear of the intake is a different OD ( Plastic VS aluminum ) the the O.E. ford " kit " coupler was to large. Not a problem.. on the HELP rack at the local auto parts store is a similar 90 degree fitting for a Chrysler which with a little " magic " ( shrink tube & wire hose clamp ) is BETTER than OE.
Now I know MOST of this is Pass side .. but based on the amount of CRACKAGE on the intake manifold rubber POS fitting that it would help.
BBZZZTTTT Wrongo… after 4 starts the code was tossed.
Observational note.. If I start the truck ( cold morning ) take a long drive 10 miles or more.. let the truck sit for 40 min ( truck is cool again ) and restart, odds are good that the code will not show up.
Hot day running errands… go 2 miles stop , restart, do it again 80% chance I will get a code..
But SOMETIMES it will go for WEEKS with no codes.
If I look at the code scanner there are 4 entries that I think are fuel related
one of the 4 doesn't MOVE ( I'll post a pix later )
So today Drivers side PCV and hose.PLUS close inspection of anything I have missed to date.
BADA BOOM!
Mike
( any thoughts would be appreciated )
