Im pretty sure its not the best, but it beats my 4 year old cheap window mount unit. Especially since it comes with external antenna. Plus hopefully the location of this will help me see the screen better then the window mount type since the sun washes out the image. Years ago I installed my 12 disc cd changer control box on top of my stock 1 cd ford stereo. I just cant remember how much space was available in the original stereo opening. The pics for the gps radio is one solid block, and without having to take my dash apart is it pretty clear for this unit to fit. Crutchfield says it will fit my truck and there are throwing in all adapters and install sheets needed for free which is nice. I have a 2003 xlt, stock ford 1 cd double din stereo. Also ordered a back up camera so that is also a plus for the ability of the unit.

Found this review on amazon, and believe it or not it was on the same truck and stereo I have. Now I know for sure it will work, and im even more excited to get it. The rear camera I ordered looks like it mounts behind the license plate and over hangs the top of it. I took a look at my plate and its very close to the button to open the glass, hopefully it doesnt interfere with it and hopefully it fits.

Valor is a really cheap, but has lots of goodies. I had a Valor in-dash DVD player in my 04 Expy and sold it with the truck. I was wondering if they had a in dash navigation. Good Buy!! Let me know how you like.

Just got it installed, crutchfield screwed me and sent the wrong harness, well frod screwed me actually. Ford used an 04 harness in my 03 so I had to splice all the wires, since I had the whole dash torn apart I didnt want to wait for a new harness. Seems to work fine, sometimes I need to push the screen buttons twice, maybe because I dont push hard. The viewing angle is fine, and I bypassed the dvd wire so I can watch movies while driving. Gps is cool, I have 2 small window mount type but this one has alot of features, even has split screen and allows music or dvd audio while watching map, and you can set the voice to pop over the music to tell you when to turn, really nice feature. Haven tried any mp3 or the ipod jack yet and the radio screen graphics are bland, and boring to look at but the music seemed clear and alot of bass. And I love the back up camera, sold separately.

Do you have the rear entertainment system from Ford? If so did you get that to work with new Valor? I have been hesitant to buy a in dash like yours only cuz I dont know if the Ford rear entertainment will work with a unit like the Valor. BTW, Nice work. You saved alot of $$$$ doing your own install. Looks Great!!

No I dont have a rear entertainment system, it does have I think 2 monitor outputs, and one audio video input for external dvd, or game console. It has some extra jacks I didnt use, if I remember correctly one was wheel button I think , maybe for steering wheel control, and the other was an separate infrared connector, maybe for back control.

Is the rear entertainment you speak of a monitor in the ceiling or headrests, if yes then this would control 2 external monitors, plus the one in the dash, it may have a seperate audio output plug too, I just cant remember the mess of connectors I didnt use. I only used the backup cam jack.
Here is a pic of the whole thing http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o56/mikegigabyte/ValorNVG-606W_1248053630089.jpg

It does have a electric antenna wire, sub output rca plug, and a amp power activator wire.

Here is the crutchfield harness diagram they sent me to hard wire the radio, Im keeping this in the truck for future reference. http://crutchfield.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/crutchfield.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=4912&p_created=1185986393&p_sid=Hv89R-Dj&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=4944&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9NzIsNzImcF9wcm9kcz00NjkmcF9jYXRzPSZwX3B2PTEuNDY5JnBfY3Y9JnBfcGFnZT0xJnBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9MjAwNCBmb3JkIGV4cGVkaXRpb24*&p_li=&p_topview=1
