I was driving like Mario and got a little too close to a parked car, clipping my passenger side mirror. It folded up against the window so quickly it shattered the glass of the mirror. I swear, that little piece of glass has to be the most expensive per square inch of any glass outside the Hubble Telescope! The part alone is over $600! Of course, that piece of mirrored glass is auto-dimming and defogging, so it's pretty trick kit, but still... I guess I'll be a little less Mario in the future.

don't you wish you had sponsors like Mario has wouldn't cost you anything and you would have a pit crew do all the work

Have you thought about just getting a regular mirror? That way anymore Mario stunts would be less costly? lol. Or just get ballistic glass with a spring folded mirror. You can hit every parked car on the block, score 100 points, and still not break it!

Semi off topic fun fact of the day. Your side view mirror's are actually first surface mirrors which are more expensive in general compared to"regular" mirror which is second surface(illegal to use in automotive mirrors). Touch the side view mirror with your finger and look at it from an angle you will see your finger tip touches itself. Now go inside and touch your bathroom mirror and look at it from an angle you will see the glass thickness between your finger tip.

I've replaced a bunch of mirror glass with replacements I got on amazon. Under $20. They've all fit perfectly. If you can live without the heat and auto dim, that is.

This exact thing happened to me with a rotten mailbox... My mirror shattered against the door and I had to get a new one... Mind you, I have an '03 but still the heated mirror from Dorman was still close to like $60 I believe.

Heck, the heat/dim/fold/blind spot features are all really nice. The new one is installed. It was expensive, but removing features from the Expy isn't something I want to do.

Not to hijack the thread and ask a stupid question, but if you have the self dimming side view mirror option, it's BOTH sides, correct? I've only had my 2011 for a few months and it has it and the dealership broke my passenger side mirror and replaced it and now that I think about it, that one doesn't dim.
