p0401 egr flow

does anyone know what causes the egr flow problem and is it ok to drive with the check engine light on for a week ?

2 possibilities that are common. 1 bad DPFE sensor, very common, or 2 plugged egr ports in the intake.

apply vacuum directly to the egr valve at idle. If the engine starts running bad like it wants to die then the egr valve and ports are ok. Replace the dpfe. if it continues to run normally remove the top neck of the intake and clean out the passage behind the throttle plate.

driving a week like this wont hurt anything
