Hello,

I’ve been dealing with a P0442 for a while now. My Expedition has a 3.5 Ecoboost with the capless gas filler.

I tried to clean the gas filler and replaced both the purge valve and vent valve with no luck. Now in addition to the P0442 it’s showing a P1450.

Has anyone dealt with this before or have any recommendations? I have a smoke machine coming from Amazon this week and plan on doing a smoke test as my next step.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

new member, first post. 2001 Ford Expedition 5.4 Eddie Baur. I guess I will jump on the "P0442 post." Have already purchased a couple after-market gas caps. I Connected smoke machine to the tube running from purge valve to cannister in rear of expedition. Fair amount of Smoke was coming out of what appeared to be the top port on the cannister. Not sure if that is normal, but I assume not. Is that a leaking cannister or is there something (valve?) located on that top port I can't see. I didn't pull off the cannister.
The "top" hose where smoke seemed to be coming seemed loose, didn't have a clamp on it and I don't know where it goes. It disappears into a hole in the frame and heads back towards the front and then.....I don't know where....gas tank? I have been looking for a schematic.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. thank you.
