Hi all, new here.. Always wanted an Expedition and finally picked up an 02 a few days ago.

I'm not much into doing mods on my cars (i'm a motorcycle guy) but i love this truck and would like to do a few little cosmetic things.

My question is, have any of you painted the grill on your expo?? I would like to do the truck in all black and was thinking about using the Fusion spray can to do my grill. Have any of you tried something like this?

Thanks,
Pete

My brother just did his 2000 F150 with the Fusion paint. It came out very nice. I plan on doing the same to my 04 as well.

Just make sure you prep it right.

excellent!! I am gonna do mine this weekend...I did all my emblems and moldings this past weekend and they came out pretty nice... Like anything else, the prep is the most important and light coats... I can't wait to see it all blacked out.

There are a few threads already on painting your grill. Fusion doesn't require any prep besides cleaning the dirt off. If it seems really greasy use some rubbing alcohol to remove the grease. I definitely recommend painting it black, it will turn out nice. Just get some blue tape and plastic to mask off near by areas. I painted mine without even taking it off. Just make sure you cover up everything really well, you don't want paint in your radiator.

My bad..I guess i could have used the "search"..

That's correct, Fusion only needs a good cleaning nothing more...

I was actually gonna remove the grill though., I thought it might be easier, but if you did it without removing it, I might tape everything up and try it that way

My brother and I removed his. Allowed us to paint everything, front and back. That would be my suggestion.

you probably spend the same time to cover the surrounding areas as it would to take it out, I just didn't want to have to find the tools to do it, and it just seemed less complicated to leave it in. I had a big roll of plastic and plenty of blue tape so I easily covered everything up and was able to paint the entire grill without missing any spots top or bottom (the top and bottom is where all the surface area is, there isn't really much of a back except maybe some thin lines that you're only going to notice if you pop the hood and stick a flashlight down there to inspect.)

Took us about 5 minutes to remove. Keep in mind we do all of our own work on all of our vehicles though, so that may not be a typical time for others.

Honestly, we only did it to allow us to paint the whole thing. We wanted to get the back, sides, everything. I guess you can say it is because we are OCD about our cars, and we are, lol.
