I have a broken parking brake cable, it may be the front cable that snapped but I have been noticing a slight drag on my Expy, my thought that it may be that the parking brake is slightly engaged thats causing this drag. Is there any way of disengaging the parking brake by the equalizer (the piece that goes makes the 2 rear cables work in sync) or at the rear drum where there is an actuator tied to the rear brake shoes? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

I would think that if the parking brake line snapped, it should automatically just default to the "release" position. Either way, I'd take off your rear tire(s), and take off your rear disc. There should be a screw that adjusts the position of the shoes that you could probably use to release the shoe.

Hello everyone. i have this same issue except that i was unaware of why it was dragging. i been driving it until recently i had the whole front end hub and bearing, cv axles, joint etc, replaced thinking it would fix the problem. wrong although i did need all those things replaced im happy i got it out the way. anyway i was reading on some of these post one of them was the post about the Clutch packs needing to be replaced due to the same symptoms, i did not want to spend another $600 on the truck i dont have that kind of money anymore. i took the job into my own hands my EXPO's previous owner crashed and it snapped the e-Brake line, i took off the rotor after pounding it with everything i had in my toolbox. when it came off " the whole assembly came falling out. can i just throw the rotor back on and calipers w/ brakes and drive it to my mechanic to fix it would i be able to drive it or do i even need the emergency brakes?
