Hey guys,

I have a 98 EB Expy. I purchased the pioneer 4300DVD head unit and had a audio shop install it today. I chose to get it done by a shop as I am very **** and I am slowly restoring this truck.

I picked it up and it just looks like crap. He cut the top left and right corners, looks uneven. The unit is way off center. It is closer to the right of the opening. He said with Ford and this truck, it has to be off center. I said wow, it doesn't look so good. He said are you kidding, it looks great. Well, $200.00 later I am pissed.

I am going back but wanted some info. I see others have installed this unit or ones that are close. Can anyone shed some info? Do you have to cut the front top corners? Does it have to be off center? I will post some pictures tonight when I get home. I am really pissed off.

Thanks alll.

Brian

Thanks guys. So it supposed to be centered, correct? Also does any triming need to be done on the outside bezel? Both top corners are cut uneven. I am posting a picture in a few minutes. Just don't mind the fake wood dash kit that is peeling off. I just haven't had a chance to remove it.

theres no reason to cut the sides at all. Trim the top and trim the bottom and with the dash kit it slides right in.

Heres my last deck, the only reason this looks off center is cause I took the photo off center. But absolutely not side cutting, it centers itself. Mines a '99

Looks nice. Anyone have a picture of a 1998 that was done. Knowing this guy, he will claim this one is different. I will post pictures today. Also did any of the front exterior bezel have to be trimmed? Thanks again.

Yes the top of the Exterior bezel did need to be trimmed a little, but you cant see it at all, from what I can remember there is 1/2"-3/4" lip accross the top of the bezel and that just needs to be trimmed off flush with the sides.

yes the 97/98 dash is slightly different. But still should be centered.

Just got off the phone with the owner. He said in order to center it, you would have to use expoxy and then the radio would not be able to come out. Hah, WTF, expoxy!!

In the picture Oblivion just posted which is the same as mine, it looks like nothing on the exterior of the bezel was touched, still has rounded corners.

yea when I cut mine there was no cutting on the sides required. I had to take but bottom lip off and cut out some stuff inside and it fits prefectly in the middle. I might still have the PDF floating around if anyone needs it.
