I have a 2012 Expedition with a power tailgate issue . It opens fine ,even chimes with both buttons and remote but will not close with buttons or remote. No chime either. both fuses OK and have done the reset procedure in the owners manual nothing works. Anyone else have this issue and find a cause and solution ?

Can you interrupt the opening by pressing either button while the hatch is moving? (Just curious.)

My '17 is parked just below my office window. Using the remote (press twice) the door starts to open. Press twice again the door stops, then closes and locks.

I assume the door works on a DC motor that changes direction based on polarity from a relay. Further guessing that if the reverse doesn't work (loose wire or bad relay) that your door will stop half way and just stay there. Give it a try.

Have you tried applying "gentle" pressure by hand in both directions when you want to close it? It sounds like the "fully open" sensor is not providing the signal.
